One of the most overlooked parts of the Christmas story is how much of it happens in waiting.
Before the angels announced anything, there was silence.
Before the wise men arrived, there was a journey.
Before the promise was fulfilled, there was a long season where nothing seemed to be happening.
A Time of Preparation
The Christmas story didn’t begin in a moment—it unfolded over time. Every step, every delay, every unknown was part of something bigger than anyone could see in the moment.
And that’s often where we find ourselves too.
Waiting for clarity.
Waiting for direction.
Waiting for something to change.
It’s easy to feel like waiting is wasted time. Like nothing is happening. But the story of Christmas reminds us that waiting is often where preparation takes place.
God was preparing hearts.
Aligning circumstances.
Positioning people exactly where they needed to be.
What looked like stillness was actually movement.
When we begin to understand that, it changes how we view our own seasons of waiting. Instead of rushing through them or resisting them, we can begin to trust that something is being formed—even if we can’t yet see it.
And maybe that’s part of what Christmas invites us into—not just celebrating what has already happened, but learning to trust what God is still doing.
